PuTTY is free Win32 Telnet/SSH client, more information is available here.

They have binaries for x86 and DEC Alpha, but none for Windows NT PPC (PowerPC) as not very many people ever used this platform. I happen to be an owner of one such machine and compiled the code.

  • Code is based of of the 0.52 code which you can download
  • imm32.lib was not available so it's support is not included in the build
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 4 was used so no plink.exe or pagent.exe
  • Very limited testing was done (I have been using it)
  • Only tested on WindowsNT 4 SP1 (yes ppc is severely outdated)
  • Please do not ask questions or expect any support from me or the putty team as I don't have time and they don't have the hardware or software, it works for me and hopefully it will for you as well

Another thing to consider:

Taken from the PuTTY site
LEGAL WARNING: Use of PuTTY, PSCP, PSFTP and Plink is illegal in countries where encryption is outlawed. I believe it is legal to use PuTTY, PSCP, PSFTP and Plink in England and many other countries, but I am not a lawyer and so if in doubt you should seek legal advice before downloading it...

Remember these files are for PowerPC WindowsNT only! If you get the following error then you don't have a PowerPC based windows system.

PuTTY.exe ssh client
PuTTYTel.exe telnet client
PuTTYGEN.exe RSA public/private key generator
pscp.exe secure copy
psftp.exe secure ftp
