Developer Evangelist for General Applications and Technologies

This senior technical marketing position is responsible for recruiting and managing brand-name and new software developers (ISVs) and hardware peripheral manufacturers (IHVs). The position will also work closely with Product Marketing and Engineering to help determine key third party technologies necessary for inclusion in the BeOS, and then develop agreements with those third parties. Successful candidates must know the general software market and have a solid understanding of drivers, codecs, and other fundamental operating system technologies. Having a solid understanding of applicable technology, current players and sales channels is a must. This person will set a strategy and then implement it. Skills required are strategic planning and prioritizing, public demonstrating of the BeOS and its functions, creating and presenting business proposals, negotiating agreements, building collateral materials and managing/maintaining business relationships. The ideal candidate is a self starter who can effectively articulate technical and business points both orally and in writing. A good amount of travel is required. The candidate should have at least 5 years experience in technology marketing or business development. Programming experience is a plus but not mandatory. The goals are to get killer applications shipping and provide the right services for them on the BeOS.
