BOSTON, MA. (August 4, 1997) - At Macworld Expo in Boston, Adamation, Inc. announced the release of Adam(tm), the premiere e-mail application for the BeOS(tm). Adamation also announced that a fully functional trial copy of Adam will ship with every copy of the BeOS, providing BeOS users with capabilities not found in most e-mail packages, even on other OS platforms. Increasing the communication effectiveness of the Be community, Adam offers an e-mail client that seamlessly integrates electronic forms and MIME attachment capabilities into a flexible and reliable communication solution. Adam allows you to:
Designed for easy feature expansion, Adam's open architecture fully supports the EMS API, thus any plug-in created for the EMS API can be loaded and used by Adam. Adamation has made the extended Adam API freely available on its website (www.adamation.com) allowing developers to access the full Adam feature set to create new plug-ins. According to Stephan Adams, Ph.D, Adamation's President and CEO, "Bundling Adam with the BeOS is a major win for Adamation. This validates Adam as an e-mail standard for the BeOS. AdamĀ¹s advanced features rival those found anywhere, and gives the Be community unsurpassed communications efficiency." "Adam takes Internet-based electronic mail to the next logical step, adding some features that can only be found in LAN-based e-mail today, and other features that can't be found in any other e-mail package." said Mark Gonzales, Vice President of Marketing at Be, Inc. "We're pleased to see Adam as one of the first wave of applications for the BeOS, and expect that BeOS users will benefit daily from it's capabilities." The free upgrade to the version of Adam contained on the BeOS CD-ROM is also available from the Adamation website (www.adamation.com). In October, users will be able to purchase Adam 2.0, which will include a number of new plug-ins, each expanding the flexibility and power of the e-mail application. One of these new plug-ins will be Media Manager, allowing e-mails having multimedia attachments (e.g., video or audio files) to have those attachments be automatically played back on receipt. With Media Manager, users won't have to launch a separate application to view the video or audio messages. Visitors to the Be booth at MacWorld (World Trade Center, #5119) can see demos of Adam's advanced multimedia and forms creation capabilities.
