Bochs Announces Improved Microsoft Windows Emulation in BeOS

Waltham, Massachusetts (November 11, 1998). Bochs Software Company today announced plans to improve performance and support for Be, Inc.'s Be Operating System (BeOS) version of it's $25.00 Microsoft Windows emulation software, "bochs".

Bochs is a portable x86 PC emulation software package that emulates relevant hardware and BIOS so that DOS and Windows and applications that run under DOS and Windows can run inside of a BeOS window.

Bochs performance improvements will include addition of dynamic translation techniques and specialized Windows video and hard disk drivers, utilizing BeOS APIs. These improvements should allow users to run typical Windows programs such as the MS Office suite with reasonable speed while using the BeOS.

Bochs is also available for Linux, Solaris, and most all other Unix platforms.
