Be, Inc. In Europe: Be, Incorporated and EMU Systems Partner for Audio Solutions on the BeOS LAS VEGAS, NVCOMDEX/FALL , November 16, 1998: Be, Incorporated and EMU Systems announced their intention to work together to develop high quality professional audio solutions for multimedia authors and musicians. Initially planned is complete Be Operating System (BeOS) support for EMU's Audio Production Studio (APS) and accompanying EMU10K1 DSP chip. The EMU Audio Production Studio is designed for musicians, multimedia content developers, sound designers, and anyone who needs a high-quality system for creating digital audio and MIDI-based music. The APS is a PCI-based audio system that gives users 64 voices of sampling, multitrack hard disk recording, and professional real-time DSP effects. It records and plays full duplex studio-quality audio directly onto hard drives while playing and recording MIDI sequences simultaneously. Whether the final product will be delivered on tape, CD-ROM, games, DVD/video soundtracks or any desktop audio format, users can record, edit, process and playback multiple tracks of digital audio and high-quality synthesized music using the APS. "EMU is excited to announce a developer relationship with Be. EMU has always been involved with shaping the future of professional audio systems and, as a result, we're looking forward to partnering with a company that clearly demonstrates similar technical excellence and a vision of the importance of high quality audio. Our Audio Production Studio digital audio PCI card operating under BeOS will allow us to continue to set standards for the production of music and audio," said Denis Labrecque, Marketing Manager for New Corporate Ventures at EMU. "EMU's technology is a perfect fit for our prototypical users, digital content creators who demand high quality, multichannel audio with real-time effects. By partnering with EMU, we give our users superior audio performance today and enhanced facilities in the future," said Timothy Self, Audio Developer Evangelist for Be.
BeOS users can download basic i/o drivers for the APS from BeDepot.com
(http://www.bedepot.com) in early 1999. Be and EMU will announce in early
1999 a
complete development schedule for the APS and future EMU technologies.
