Be, Incorporated Launches Reseller Program; Signs Three North American Distributors

MENLO PARK, Calif., April 5, 1999 -- Be, Incorporated, developer of an alternative operating system, today announced its reseller program, signing distribution agreements with three partners in the North American market. Digital Edge Distribution, Frank Kasper & Associates, and X-cel Computer Hardware and Software will begin to distribute the Be Operating System (BeOS®) in April 1999 throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Be, Incorporated develops the BeOS, an operating system that provides a rich user experience to people who handle high-bandwidth digital media, such as graphics, audio and video in real-time, on personal computers and web devices.

Digital Edge Distribution is a leading distributor of audio software and hardware products. Under the agreement, Digital Edge will distribute the BeOS to audio outlets via telemarketing, trade shows, catalogues and the Internet.

Frank Kasper & Associates, a distributor that specializes in alternative operating systems, will distribute the BeOS to more than 2000 retail storefronts in the U.S. Frank Kasper & Associates has recently emerged as a leading distributor in the alternative operating systems market handling Red Hat Linux.

X-cel will extend Be's reach to the north by distributing the BeOS to its 500 resellers throughout Canada. X-cel specializes in the distribution of business and entertainment software, modems and sound cards.
