Be, Incorporated Appoints Dan Johnston As Vice President and General Counsel
MENLO PARK, Calif., April 26, 1999 - Be, Incorporated, the developer of the digital media operating system (BeOS ®), today announced the appointment of Dan Johnston as vice president and general counsel. In this post, Johnston will be responsible for the company's legal affairs. Johnston will report to Be, Incorporated CFO Wes Saia.
Johnston comes to Be, Incorporated from Cooley Godward LLP, where he spent four years as an associate in the firm's Information Technology Licensing Group. In that capacity, Johnston served as Be, Incorporated's outside counsel advising the company on its commercial transactions and technology partner relationships.

Prior to Cooley Godward, Johnston was a software programmer with Lockheed Missiles and Space Company. He designed applications software systems and also served as a computer systems manager in charge of the inventory control systems for the U.S.Navy's fleet ballistic missile program.
Johnston earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and has a bachelor of science degree in computer information systems from Humboldt State University. He is also a member of the California State Bar of California and the American Bar Association.
