Corporate Program
The Be Corporate program is oriented for developers and developer teams who are fully dedicated to commercial software development on the BeOS platform. This program offers a complete set of development tools, as well as proactive evangelism effort, intensive co-marketing, and technical support.

Registered Corporate Developers receive a Be Developer ID number and password and are automatically entered into the Be Developer database. Corporate Developers can create and modify their developer record to keep Be current on their contact and project information.
Technical Support is vital to developers throughout the development process. This program offers several types of support.
- Unlimited online technical support from the Be Developer
Technical Support team, via web and email.
- Access to the Developer Library, including:
- Sample Code
- Tutorials
- Newsletter Articles indexed by topic
- Be Developer Conference transcripts
- Access to the BeOS Bug Database which allows developers to submit
and track bugs.
- The Be Book (online version of the official BeOS Developer Documentation)
- The Be Developer Guide (printed version of the Be Book)
- Be Developer Kitchens, special sessions which allow developers to spend time working
on technical issues or on their code with Be engineers or the Developer Technical Support
team. Developer Kitchens will be held in the US and in Europe.
- Corporate Developers may be seeded with beta version of updates of the BeOS as they are available, before other developers and users have access.
- One copy of the BeOS and all upgrades released during the subscription year.
- Each release of the BeOS will ship with the full development tools for each platform.
The PowerPC release will ship with the unlimited tools from Metrowerks, and Intel will ship with
EGCS, the Gnu development tools.
- Package Builder
will also ship on the CD. This is a development tool that allows developers to build packages
that users can install with
SoftwareValet.
- Additional BeOS development seats (the BeOS, all development tools, and PackageBuilder) at a special discount of $99 for members of a development team within the same company.
Corporate Developers will have direct contact with a Be evangelist in charge of their account. They will receive proactive evangelism support.
Additionally, Be Corporate Developers will be able to issue joint press releases with Be and they will be able to include their own press releases in press packets distributed by Be at be events, tradeshows, etc.
Be Developers are our partners and it is our goal to keep them updated on BeOS development. To this end, Be Corporate Developers receive the following publications:
- BeDevNews electronic mailing list
- The Be Developer Newsletter,
a weekly electronic publication which
includes development details, tips from Be engineers and the technical
support team, as well as a regular column by Jean-Louis Gassée.
- All press releases issued by Be, as they are issued.
- On an ongoing basis, special announcements and messages, such as OEM agreements and BeOS CD bundling proposals.
Software Promotion and Distribution
The Promotion and Distribution of software can be a time-consuming and resource-intensive task. Be puts a range of tools at the disposal of Corporate Developers to support them in this process:
- BeWare: a collection of the latest
applications and utilities for the BeOS, hosted on the Be web site.
One of the most popular areas on the
web site, BeWare and the BeWare highlights represent an excellent opportunity
for third party applications to get exposure. There is no charge for submitting
software to BeWare.
- BeDepot: BeDepot is an online commerce site that provides a wide range of services for the sale and distribution of commercial software. BeDepot provides an online shopping environment, where users can browse software, make secure purchases online and download commercial software directly. BeDepot will soon support the distribution of physical product as well as ESD. There is no fee for listing commercial software on BeDepot (though there is a transaction fee on actual sales.)
Software and Hardware Discounts
- BeOS Discount: Corporate Developers receive the BeOS
and upgrades automatically withing the membership year.
- BeDC Discount: Corporate receive a
discount on Be Developer Conference registration fees.
- Be Hardware Discount: Corporate Developers can take advantage of special prices on BeOS development systems. (Note: due to tax and export issues, hardware discount available in the US only.)
