Have you ever gazed upon the lunchroom of Be, Inc. using the infamous CodyCam page and wished you could use the BeOS to unleash images of your office or living room onto an unsuspecting world?

Well, wish no more! Starting with BeOS R4.5, you too can add valuable real-time dynamic content to your website. Nestled among the other applications, you'll find your very own copy of CodyCam.

Besides BeOS, you'll need a video capture card and a video camera (any minicam, video camera, or Camcorder that has a composite video output will work; some cards also support cameras with an S-Video output).

After you've installed all the hardware, launch CodyCam and set the Video Preferences via the File menu (these preferences are the same as the Video Input section of the Media preferences panel).

Next step: visit the Capture Controls and decide how often you want to capture the image, give it a name and specify the destination server (be sure to enter the proper name and password in Ftp Setup, and use Passive ftp if you have to deal with firewalls).

That's it! Periodic images of whatever your camera is pointing at will now find their way onto the wild and woolly Internet. Send the URL to your friends and be on your best behavior.
