As mentioned earlier, the BeOS uses a 64-bit journaling file system. It also uses extendable file attributes. This lets you build powerful file queries, such as "Find me all the email about the Secret Project sent between October and December by Bob". As seen above, NetPositive's bookmarks use extended attributes. Also shown above, TrackerBase combines extended attributes and the built-in scripting capabilities of the BeOS into a powerful, searchable database that generates web pages based on user-defined criteria (in the example above, it is generating a news site).
