Be Incorporated and Arima Computer Corporation Join Forces to Develop Internet Appliances
Prominent Original Device Manufacturer to Build Devices Based on Be's BeIA
MENLO PARK -- August 9, 2000 -- Be Incorporated (Nasdaq: BEOS)today announced the signing of an agreement with Arima
Computer Corporation, a leading Original Device Manufacturer (ODM) in
Taiwan, to cooperate on the sales and marketing of a jointly developed
set of complete Internet appliance solutions based on BeIA, Be's
software platform for Internet appliances. These devices may be
available to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and other
companies as early as Q4 2000.
The complete hardware/software solutions offered by Be and Arima
will benefit Internet appliance distributors by reducing development
costs, increasing hardware options and speeding time to market.
Distributors will be free to customize the user interface and branding
of the devices.
