Be Announces Development of BeIA Client Software for Sony's New e Villa Network Entertainment Center
LAS VEGAS --Jan. 6, 2001-- Be Incorporated
(Nasdaq:BEOS) today announced that in March 2000 it entered into a
non-binding memorandum of understanding with Sony Electronics Inc.
Under the memorandum, Be has been working with Sony to provide Be's
Client Platform, a component of BeIA(TM), the complete Internet
appliance solution, on Sony's e Villa(TM) Network Entertainment
Center. Sony will demonstrate a BeIA-enabled e Villa device in its
booth at CES in Las Vegas this week. The parties are currently
negotiating an OEM license and distribution agreement whereby Sony is
granted a license to pre-install and distribute the BeIA Client
Platform on the Sony e Villa product.
