EventLoop Advances the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) With Be Operating System
The GIMP Will Give BeOS Users Powerful Image Editing and Creation Solutions

Minneapolis, Minnesota, June 22, 1999 -- EventLoop is pleased to announce the porting of the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) to the new BeOS an operating system designed for digital media applications on desktop computers and Internet appliances. This application will bring powerful image editing and creation tools solutions to the BeOS desktopBeOS users.

GIMP is a photo manipulation and digital painting package supporting many of the features of mainstream commercial products. GIMP is a community- developed free software product that currently runs on UNIX platforms. Under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL), EventLoop's porting modifications will be contributed back to the community.

"It's a real privilege to be able to work with GPL'd software like GIMP," said

James Mitchell, CEO of EventLoop, Incorporated. "The GPL gives us the freedom to enhance GIMP and contribute our changes back to the community, while, at the same time, allowing us to explore the commercial opportunities of sales and support."

"We think porting GIMP to BeOS will help refine and polish GIMP further, which will increase it's user base on all platforms. We will be contributing code and user testing to the free software community, and that is obviously very exciting for us," said Shawn T. Amundson, Chief Technology Officer of EventLoop, Incorporated.

"The GIMP on BeOS will bring users the professional quality graphics capabilities they long for," said Tim Self, vice president developer relations at Be. "Because it's open source it will also give users the possibility to customize and create specialty versions by modifying and adding features."

"It's a real privilege to be able to work with GPL'd software like GIMP," said James Mitchell, CEO of EventLoop, Incorporated. "The GPL gives us the freedom to enhance GIMP and contribute our changes back to the community, while, at the same time, allowing us to explore the commercial opportunities of sales and support."
