Nichimen Graphics Forms Strategic Partnership With Be Incorporated
Agreement Will Make Award-Winning Nendo Software Available
NEW YORK, NY, June 22, 1999 - Nichimen Graphics, a leading provider of cutting-edge technology to the 3D content creation market, today announced a strategic partnership with Be Incorporated that will make Nichimen's Nendo software available to users of BeOS®, an operating system designed for digital media applications on desktop computers and Internet appliances., BeOS®.
Nendo, which means "clay" in Japanese, is an award winning 3D modeling and 3D paint software program popular with both professional 3D artists as well as beginners for its ease-of-use and versatility. Its availability for users of BeOS helps address the need for affordable, yet powerful 3D graphics capabilities on the new operating system.
"Nendo was designed to be an intuitive and powerful modeling tool for both professionals and those just breaking into the 3D content creation arena. Since Be is committed to providing a desktop environment tailored to the various needs of the creative user, porting Nendo to BeOS is a natural and obvious progression," said Chris Cederwall, manager of Nendo development at Nichimen. "It is an exciting opportunity to be involved with Be during its expansion to involve 3D graphics; we hope that Nendo's availability on BeOS will further its role as the operating system for media creation-oriented users."
"The inherent power and user-friendly nature of Nendo, combined with the solid foundation of BeOS, provides users with a resource which features new price and performance advantages for 3D content creation," said Tim Self, vice president of developer relations at Be. "Together with Nichimen, Be is offering an excellent solution to graphics enthusiasts and professionals."
The initial public viewing of the beta version of Nendo on BeOS will be at Siggraph this August in the Be booth at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Nichimen plans to release Nendo for BeOS to the public in the fourth quarter of this year.
