Be Incorporated and Monolith Productions Announce Development of Monolith Productions Shogo: Mobile Armor Division for BeOS
MENLO PARK, Calif., September 7, 1999 - Be Incorporated (Nasdaq: BEOS), developer of BeOS®, the operating system designed for digital media applications and Internet appliances, and Monolith Productions, a leading interactive entertainment developer, today announced the development of Shogo: Mobile Armor DivisionTM for BeOS, an interactive computer game planned for release this year.
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division provides an involving, 'action movie' style single-player experience, where the player takes the role of Sanjiro Makabe, a security forces officer on the planet Cronos swept into a battle between terrorists and mega corporations. The result is an action-packed, first-person shooter game combining spectacular environments (from neon-lit, futuristic cityscapes to gaping desert ravines and canyons) with a meaningful storyline packed with intriguing characters and plot revelations.
"Be, Inc. is committed to bringing a broad suite of BeOS-supported interactive entertainment titles to market that deliver the ultimate gaming experience to consumers," said Jon Seidenfeld, games evangelist at Be, Inc. "In an adrenaline-charged game like Shogo, it's all about speed. BeOS allows gamers to squeeze every ounce of processing power from their systems to reach new levels of performance. BeOS also brings Shogo's cutting-edge graphics to life."
"We are excited to see Shogo being developed for BeOS," said Jason Hall, CEO of Monolith Productions. "The power of BeOS is ideal for an action-packed game such as Shogo, translating into a better interactive experience."
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division will be developed and published for BeOS by Wildcard Design. Wildcard Design has brought to market several other BeOS-supported games including Abuse, and most recently the hit strategy game Civilization: Call to Power.
In related news, Be, Inc. today demonstrated other popular games running on BeOS at the European Computer Trade Show (ECTS) including, Civilization: Call to Power, Corum 3, and Quake II running in Voodoo hardware accelerated openGL mode,.
