The award was presented at the Interact + PC IT trade show last week in Melbourne, Australia. A panel of editors from Australian PC User Magazine selected BeOS 4.5 as the "best and brightest" product in the multimedia industry. In order to qualify for awards, products had to be released in Australia no earlier than June 1999 and ship no later than December 1999. Nominations were based on the products' ability to offer consumers real value and innovation while pushing the boundaries of technology. Australian PC User Magazine is Australia's top-selling computer magazine. In related news, BeOS 4.5 was also a finalist for the "Best Product of the Show" award, sponsored by Australian Personal Computer Magazine. The show was the Interact + PC IT 99, Australia's premier multimedia and IT Expo. It featured more than 250 exhibitors and attracted more than 35,000 visitors.
