Be Incorporated Announces Executive Team Promotions
MENLO PARK, Calif. -- Sept. 28, 1999 -- Be Incorporated, (Nasdaq: BEOS),
developer of BeOS®, the operating system designed for digital media
applications and Internet appliances, today announced four executive team
promotions. Steve Sakoman was promoted to chief technology officer, Dominic
Giampaolo and Pierre Raynaud-Richard were promoted to vice presidents of
engineering and Al Lombardo was promoted to vice president and corporate
controller.

executive management team at a critical time in Be's life," said Jean-Louis
Gasseé, chairman and chief executive officer of Be, Inc.
As chief technology officer, Steve Sakoman a co-founder of Be, Inc., is
responsible for driving the company's strategic relationships and
developing both technology and business solutions. He joined the company as
vice president of engineering, from Apple Computer, where he was director
of CPU development managing the hardware group which was responsible for
the Apple II and Macintosh product lines. Sakoman also started and managed
the Newton development team. Also, he was with Silicon Graphics where he
was the director of the Consumer Products & Technologies Group, which
included the Nintendo 64 project. Before that, Sakoman worked at
Hewlett-Packard where he was a manufacturing engineer and the project
manager for the industry's first battery powered portable MS-DOS PC, the
HP-110.
As vice president of engineering, Dominic Giampaolo oversees core
technology development at Be, Inc., including the BeOS kernel, networking,
media, quality assurance and release engineering. He joined Be, Inc. in 1995 and developed the Be File System and numerous other core parts of the Be kernel and
managed BeOS software releases. Prior to joining Be, Inc. Giampaolo worked
in the high-end graphics group at SGI where he worked on the Infinite
Reality and Reality Engine products.
In his new post as vice president of engineering, Pierre Raynaud-Richard is
responsible for all software engineering issues related to graphics,
including 3D and game technologies, printing, fonts, application
frameworks, and documentation. Raynaud-Richard joined Be, Inc. in 1995, and
has served as a lead software engineer, architect and manager. Prior to Be,
Inc., Raynaud-Richard held engineering and managerial positions at Kalisto
Entertainment, a well-known French game development company.
As vice president and corporate controller, Al Lombardo is responsible for
accounting and financial reporting, budget and planning, treasury and risk
management, leased facilities, employee benefits and stock administration.
Lombardo joined Be, Inc. as corporate controller in 1995 and brought with
him more than 20 years of financial management experience. Prior to Be,
Inc., he was corporate treasurer for Asanté. Before joining Asanté, Lombardo served as corporate treasurer of VitaLink where he managed more than $111 million in cash. He also managed benefits and stock
administration for Intel Corporation and held controller positions with
Bimillenium, Baron Data and Southern Pacific.
