Zuendt to the company's board of directors. Zuendt brings a wealth of experience to his new role with Be Incorporated from his distinguished career in both the financial and computer industries. He joined Wells Fargo in 1973 with responsibility for its computer systems and operations and throughout the 1980s, he directed Wells Fargo's retail banking business. Subsequently, Zuendt was appointed as president and chief operating officer of Wells Fargo & Company and its principal subsidiary, Wells Fargo Bank, which provides financial and investment services to consumers, small businesses, and commercial and real estate enterprises. He retired from this position in 1997. "I have personally worked with Bill over the years and have admired his keen insights and his remarkably quick understanding of the complex and dynamic issues facing our compute industry," said Jean-Louis Gassée, chairman and CEO of Be, Inc. "His contributions will help us further grow our market advantage." In addition to serving on Be's board of directors, Zuendt also serves as a director of 3Com Corporation, a global data networking company; a director of Advent Software, Inc., the world's leading provider of software solutions, data integration tools, and services for investment management professionals; a member of the Federal Advisory Board and the California Chamber of Commerce; and past chairman of the boards of MasterCard International and Golden Gate University. He also is active in the Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network's initiative focused on improving K-12 education.
