Be Incorporated Appoints Joichi Ito as First Member of Advisory Board
MENLO PARK, Calif. -- November 3, 1999 -- - Be Incorporated (Nasdaq:BEOS), developer of BeOS®, the operating system designed for digital media applications, today announced the appointment of respected entrepreneur and technology visionary Joichi Ito as its first advisory board member. In this role, Ito will bring his experience in Internet digital media technology as well as his network of contacts to promote Be, and to help expand the advisory board on a worldwide basis.
Joichi Ito is chairman of Infoseek Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Infoseek (Nasdaq:SEEK), a provider of Internet services and software products; board member of PSINet Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of PSINet (Nasdaq:PSIX), a global network access provider; board member of Energy Conversion Devices Inc. (Nasdaq:ENER), a developer and manufacturer of alternative energy and information technology; chairman of Sanoh System Solutions, a distributor of network security products and a provider of network security audits; and president of Neoteny, Inc., a consulting and Internet business incubation company. Ito is also active on various government policy boards and regularly appears in the media in Japan as an expert on the Internet. Ito will continue to serve in these positions in addition to his new position at Be. Ito has studied in both the United States and Japan, and currently resides in Japan.
