Description
Be is looking to jump-start the Internet Appliance market by building product for specific communities or market segments. If you are the type of person who can focus on a customer group’s insight and then translate that into product, then read on.

Responsibilities
The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for creating a new BeIA (Be’s Internet appliance platform) product. We are looking for someone who thinks like a brand manager, getting into the mindset of consumers of specific vertical solutions. The successful candidate will identify a specific consumer market (to start) where a BeIA appliance can add value. S/he will develop business plans for a specific BeIA appliance, including analysis of sales, pricing, category/competition, forecasts and profitability and to present to senior staff to gain consensus—in other words Be will serve as a “general contractor” to move into consumer categories. S/he will additionally serve as the key relationship and in developing these third party opportunities. This person must be able to work with Product Marketing, Sales and Engineering to ensure that Be offers a complete end-to-end solution for the determined strategic segments. At the end of the day we want to deliver focused BeIA appliances to a targeted consumer opportunity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Translating consumer attitudes and insights into a new BeIA appliance.
  • Conducting market research studies, tracking competition and market trends.
  • Building segment business plans with market and competitive analysis, requirements, necessary alliances, specific deliverables, including co-branding, co-development and revenue setting.
  • Bring together all elements needed to execute the plan.
  • Formulating strategic recommendations to both the partner and company.
  • Meeting with high-level executives and key stakeholders within partner organizations and helps partner focus their business strategies around our capabilities and deliverables.

    Requirements
    Candidate should have a successful track record in developing and implementing strategic product or services programs with at least seven years in product or brand management. S/he must have the abilities to create and promote new and innovative ideas and concepts through creative thinking and to influence professionally. Experience should include strong business analytical skills, knowledge of various recurring revenue business models, project management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. MBA or equivalent is a also plus, and Position requires travel.
