  Be Brand Basic Guidelines

Welcome to the Be Brand program. Only BeIA licensees have the option of using the Be logo. By becoming a member of the Be team and licensing BeIA your brand's position is secured as a premier product in the Internet appliance market. Trust in the power of Be's guarantee: experience, technology, and quality.

In order to become a BeIA licensee, we ask that you first apply to the Partner Program then, after you are accepted, follow the directions for obtaining the Be logo eps file in the restricted Partner Area of our web site.

Signature
The signature consists of the logo (eye/ear mark) and the logotype ("Be"). The logo and logotype are always used together as a signature.
Trademark
The Be logo must always be accompanied by a trademark symbol (TM). The Be logotype must always be accompanied by a registered mark (®). You may need to adjust the size of the symbols based on the application. Make sure the symbols are legible but not obtrusive.
Signature Color
It is preferred that the signature be shown in 2-color, where the logo is Red and the logotype is Blue. The eye/ear image within the Be logo is white. Use a 1-color version only if necessary. If a 1-color signature is required, use Be Red or 100% black.

Be Red is a specific color mix:
Spot color = Pantone 186
Process color = C:0 M:100 Y:100 K:3
Screen color = R:255 G:0 B:51
Hexadecimal value = FF0033

Be Blue is a specific color mix:
Spot color = Pantone 286
Process color = C:100 M:60 Y:0 K:0
Screen color = R:0 G:102 B:255
Hexadecimal value = 0066FF

Background Color
For contrast, it is preferred that the signature be printed on a white or light-colored background. Use the 2-color signature on light-colored background or colors that equal approximately a 30% gray value. If the signature must be placed on a dark background, the signature must reverse from the background to white. In this instance, the eye/ear image within the Be logo is transparent. You may also show a signature made up of a red logo and a white logotype, but only on a black background.
23E Clear Space
Keep the signature area clear of distracting elements, e.g., type, photographs, illustration, dark or textured background. The required clear space around the signature, based on the height of the "e" in the Be logotype, is shown. When positioning the signature at the outer edge of a format, observe the same clear space rule. (The signature should be a distance away from the edge equal to or greater than the clear space measurement.)
Placement with Partner Logos
When the signature appears with the host partner, the Be signature should not be equal in size but smaller -- no larger than 70% of the host. If the Be signature is shown with other partner logos (other than the host partner), it should have equal prominence.
Minimum Size
For clarity and legibility, the signature must never be displayed less than 3/4 inch (19 mm or 52 pixels) on screen, and never less than 5/8 inch (16 mm) on print materials.
Don'ts
Consistent use of the Be signature emphasizes brand awareness. Do not alter the signature in any way. The Be signature should not be rotated, skewed, re-proportioned, redrawn, or distorted in any way.
Special Materials
There are some applications that will require the Be signature to be produced on special materials. The Be signature may appear in gold or silver metallic; however, do not mix different metallic colors together. It may be blind-embossed or debossed, embroidered on fabric, or etched into glass, plastic, or metal.

Credit Line
Printed materials referring to the Be Brand or Be technology must credit ownership to Be. Set the credit line in small type and place at the back or bottom of printed materials. The following credit line should always be used: The Be signature is a trademark of Be Incorporated.

Description Line
When the Be signature is placed on a page with other partner logos, include the following description: Be creates software platforms that enable rich media and Web experiences on Internet appliances. Be offers BeIA, a software platform designed to enable the creation of appliances that deliver information and entertainment over the Web.
