Introduction

T his chapter looks at some of the BeOS applications that let you play and record sound and video

MediaPlayer plays audio and video files.
MidiPlayer play MIDI files.
SoundRecorder records incoming audio signals.
CDBurner lets you burn your own audio CDs.
Camera is the interface to an external digital (still) camera.
CodyCam lets you record from a video input.
TV lets you hook your computer to a cable TV signal.

First we look at the Media Hardware support provided by BeOS, followed by a description of Media Preferences, the preferences application that lets you make system-wide audio and video settings, and Sounds Preferences, which lets you set the sounds that are used for system beeps.
